New Years Resolution...

Thank you to all those who responded to my first blog. I was overwhelmed by the support. You are all fantastic.

It is 2013!

I had a fantastic time welcoming in the new year and I hope you did, too.

Ezekiel joined me at a friends house for the first part of the evening but got tired around 9pm - as little ones do - he did very well. So I took him home where my Mum and Dad were hosting their own little party. Ezekiel fell asleep in the car. I put him straight to bed. They suggested I go back to the party. Thank you God for these parents of mine! What a blessing!

So off I went... by myself! Woah!

I saved a scared and lost puppy before I got there.

Then partied with my friends. Though, it took a while for me to be able to really relax.

I am so thankful for friends who looked after me. The littlest things made my night. They held Zeke while I got my dinner and ate it. They offered to fetch me drinks. They walked me to my car. They were an overall encouragement to me. Thank you God for these friends.

And at one point in the night, we had a discussion about New Years Resolutions. Quite a common thing. I have never really made one before. This year I have, but it's a different kind.

You know the cliche resolutions: be healthy, quit smoking, be nicer, become more successful, etc etc. They are good things to try to do, obviously.

But they always seem to fail. I thought about why that is. And of course, we are not a people who are able to control every aspect of our lives. We live at the hands of nature. Things happen. Some people call it fate.

"But You remain the same, and Your years will never end." Psalm 102:27.

God is always the same - as many of my friends have reminded me this morning.

God is reliable. God is almighty. God is in control. God is God. And He cares.

So this year, I'm going to resolve to ask God to transform me into a better person. Better for Him. For His purpose. He is able to do it.

Today also meant a new calendar. I was given a beautiful one for Christmas. It has a photo taken by Ken Duncan each month and a Bible verse to go with it.

Today's was this:

"Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." John 7:38

What a beautiful image to start the year with.

God, let streams of living water flow from within me.

Transform me.

Make me more like Jesus.

Help me to surrender to You everyday.
